JFE Shoji Service Corporation Tours JFE Steel Corporation’s East Japan Works

Thirty-one employees from our Group company JFE Shoji Service Corporation toured JFE Steel’s East Japan Works (Keihin) on May 26 and 29.

This was the first time most of the employees had toured a steelworks. Virtually all agreed that the steelmaking plant was the most impressive facet. While there, they saw red-hot molten iron produce red and yellow flames and showers of sparks as it was poured from a converter into a ladle. They expressed amazement at the overwhelming flames, heat, smell, sound and other intense sensations of the process. The group toured the rest of the steelworks and experienced the moment that steel is created up close.

The tour inspired the attendees with renewed determination. “I learned that JFE Steel’s strength is more in safety than speed,” one participant said. “I want to work hard with this fact in mind.” Another said: “Learning how steel is made and carried has boosted my interest in steel. I hope to use this knowledge in my work.”
