Employee Health Consciousness Promotion Measures at JSSP

JFE Shoji Steel Philippines, Inc. (JSSP) strives to build a workplace environment where employees can work in good health and with peace of mind, and also contributes to the local community. Here are two of the ways it accomplishes these goals:

[Holding Company Blood Drives]
JSSP encourages employees to give blood at its company blood drives, which it has organized together with the Santa Rosa Branch of the Philippine Red Cross since 2017.
Thirty-four employees gave blood at the most recent blood drive, which took place on October 22, 2024. The participants included first-time donors, and one was a veteran of nine blood drives !
After giving blood, the employees were served a light meal, which they enjoyed while chatting with other donors. JSSP employees will continue to proactively participate in the company’s blood drives in the belief that “a drop of blood can extend someone’s life.”

[Promoting Annual Physicals]
On the same day as the blood drive, JSSP conducted its annual employee physicals at Laguna diagnostic clinic. A total of ninety employees participated.
Although physical exam participation rates are lower in the Philippines than in Japan, JSSP believes that undergoing regular physicals—as well as any necessary follow-up examinations and treatments—is vital to preventing lifestyle diseases, detecting diseases at an early stage, and maintaining good health. For these reasons, the company encourages employees to undergo the free physical during work hours, and many employees take advantage of the opportunity.
The participants underwent a battery of tests that included physical measurements, blood tests, electrocardiograms, chest X-rays, and hearing and vision exams. Some were seen congratulating each other on their good health.

JSSP is committed to building a workplace environment in which employees can work in good health and with peace of mind, as well as to contributing to the local community, and is implementing a variety of measures designed to achieving these goals.
