Social Contribution Activities: Collecting Fallen Branches at Yoyogi Park for Recycling

JFE Shoji organized an event to collect fallen branches at Yoyogi Park on December 7 as part of our environment-related social contribution activities. Started in November 2023, our employees thoroughly enjoy this event because they can participate in a social contribution activity along with their families and pets.

About forty JFE Shoji Group employees and their family members volunteered for the event. They received support from the Lifestyle Research Institute of Forests, an NPO focused on forestry and environmental conservation.

The branches they collected will be processed into woodchips onsite, which will be used to maintain the park’s walking paths, flowerbeds and other facilities. The benefits of recycling fallen branches include beautifying the park and preventing injuries due to falls.

The participants clearly had a great time, working in a congenial atmosphere under favorable weather conditions, with children running freely around the park to collect fallen branches. Participant comments included “it was good exercise” and “I liked being able to communicate with people from departments I don’t usually work with.”

The JFE Shoji Group will continue to promote social contribution activities like this environmental conservation event as part of our efforts to create a more sustainable society.
