JFE Shoji Corporation and our Group company Kawasho Foods Corporation donated 12,500 cans of mackerel in tomato sauce, 460 sets of school desks and chairs featuring our corporate logo, and 17,000 Geisha-branded notebooks to 15 schools in Nigeria and Ghana as part of our 2024 social contribution activities. This marked our fourteenth year for this annual food and educational support activity, which was launched in 2011 on the centennial of the Geisha brand.

Nigeria

We held a presentation ceremony on November 6 that attracted attention from local newspapers and TV stations. The event drew 20 official guests—including manager Kotaro Murata from Kawasho Foods (Gulf) and Nigeria’s Education Ministry Secretary Nureni Aderemi Adeniran—as well as about 125 teachers and students from recipient schools.

During his address, Secretary Adeniran joyfully expressed his gratitude, as well as his expectations for how the donations would benefit the children’s development and learning.

Ghana

The November 20 presentation ceremony in Ghana drew Kawasho Foods President Yukimori Nakamura, Kawasho Foods (Gulf) President Akira Yano and manager Kotaro Murata, and a representative from our local distributor Forewin Ghana Ltd., as well as about 200 teachers and students from the recipient schools.

Donations: 100 desk and chair sets, 6,000 notebooks, and 5,000 cans of Geisha brand mackerel in tomato sauce

These annual donations by JFE Shoji and Kawasho Foods are meant to grow the profile of the Geisha brand and to express our thanks to customers. Geisha brand canned mackerel is well-known to people in each region and beloved by the children. We also chose school equipment and supplies that meet the needs of these regions. By arranging local manufacturers to produce these items for the donation, we strive to bolster the local economy as well.

To ensure that the Geisha brand is loved for years to come, we will maintain this food and educational support activity to assist in the healthy growth of children and the creation of a more prosperous society.

About the Product: This hit product consists of fresh ocean-caught mackerel from around Japan and China, canned in a signature original tomato sauce. A key source of protein, Geisha brand mackerel is a staple food in these countries.
