JFE Shoji Electronics Enters the Solvent Recycling Business in Thailand
JFE Shoji Electronics Corporation has established UTJ Glean Solutions (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (UTJ) as a joint venture with Thailand’s Union Petrochemical Public Co., Ltd. (UKEM) and Toyota Kagaku Kogyo, Co. Ltd. The new venture is building a factory at the Gateway City Industrial Estate in Thailand, and plans to launch a solvent recycling business in November 2025.
The government of Thailand is promoting the Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model as a national strategy. This in turn is increasing awareness of the need for recycling in the industrial sector.
Solvents are liquids used for a variety of purposes in manufacturing, including cleaning and paint thinning. According to a study by UKEM, the solvent recycling rate in Thailand is currently low—less than three percent—so the solvent recycling business has a lot of market growth potential. UTJ will collect and refine waste liquid to provide low-cost yet high-quality recycled solvents. Through this initiative, the company intends to improve the usage rate of recycled solvents in Thailand, in the process reducing CO2 emissions by 10,000 tons per year and helping to realize a circular economy.
JFE Shoji Electronics will continue to contribute to local communities and the environment by providing innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
