JFE Food Bazaar Organizes Wine-Tasting Session

After the end of the business day on May 29, JFE Food Bazaar held a wine-tasting session at the Shin-Otemachi Building that drew twenty-one JFE Shoji Group employees. The event was intended to provide a fun opportunity to taste the wines sold on JFE Food Bazaar—the online food shop that Kawasho Foods runs exclusively for JFE Group employees—as well as a chance for those who don’t usually drink wine to learn about it.

JFE Food Bazaar’s wine selector, Verite Wine Consulting’s representative and senior sommelier Shigenori Izawa, was on hand to guide the tasting. Before the tasting, he gave a talk about how wine is made, how different regions and climates produce grapes with different characteristics, and how to best enjoy fine wines. During the tasting, the participants enjoyed the wines paired with snacks (also available on JFE Food Bazaar) while listening to Izawa’s commentary about each vintage. There was also a wine region and varietal guessing game, allowing participants to learn while having fun.

One participant commented, “I want to try using what I learned today to pick out a wine as soon as I get the chance.” Said another: “When I drink wine in the future, I will take time to properly appreciate its aroma, color, flavor and other characteristics.” JFE Food Bazaar plans to hold more events like this to provide opportunities for more people to enjoy and learn about wine.
