Eight JFE Shoji Group employees volunteered at the 2024 Kasumigaura Marathon and International Blind Marathon held on April 21 in Tsuchiura City, Ibaraki Prefecture. This is the eighth year our employees have volunteered at the event since it began in 2015.
The weather was perfect on the day, and the nearly twelve thousand participants were looking to complete the race at their own pace. As they did last year, our volunteers primarily ran the water station near the finish line. Other tasks included guiding people through the venue and helping runners take commemorative photos. With the clear skies and soaring temperatures, the water station was packed with thirsty runners. Hearing words of appreciation from many runners and interacting with spectators and volunteers from other companies made volunteering at the event a fun and fulfilling experience.
This year, three runners from the JFE Shoji Group completed the race, including Managing Executive Officer Takanori Adachi and an employee who volunteered last year.
The JFE Shoji Group is committed to creating a more sustainable society through active participation in volunteering such as this and other social contribution activities.
