Sansuikai Holds 200th Friendly Golf Competition

The Klang Valley Sansuikai, with JFE Shoji Steel Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. President Yuzuru Naruse as its FY2024 chairman, held its 200th friendly golf competition on March 23.

Sansuikai was established in 1989 to help four Japanese manufacturing companies based in Selangor, Malaysia, exchange information. Since then, the association has increased its membership to eighty-eight member companies, including many in the service, transportation and banking industries. Members meet on the third Wednesday of every month. With the increase in member companies in neighboring states, the association was renamed as Klang Valley Sansuikai this year.

The association’s first golf competition took place in 1991 to help members get to know each other. This year, Klang Valley Sansuikai commemorated its 200th competition by inviting Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia Katsuhiko Takahashi and his wife, as well as Takero Sawamura, the president of the Japanese Chamber of Trade & Industry, Malaysia, as guests. The event was a smash hit, and the participants clearly enjoyed getting to know each other better. They gave the event rave reviews, with one saying: “The homey atmosphere of Sansuikai’s social gatherings makes them a lot of fun.”

The association plans to hold six golf competitions this year, including friendly competitions with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority and the Penang (northern Malaysia) Sansuikai.
