JSSM’s Annual Durian Party

JFE Shoji Steel Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (JSSM) held its annual durian party—an event meant to promote fellowship between employees—on August 1. Around a hundred employees attended this year’s party.
The party began in the delivery yard at 5 p.m. after daytime business hours ended. The nightshift crew joined the party a while later. Like last year, the company purchased 380 kilograms of durian for the employees to enjoy “all-you-can-eat” style. Although taking the fruit home was not allowed, the participants were able to consume as much as they wanted right there in the yard.
The variety offered this year were Kampung durians, which are popular across Malaysia. This seed-grown variety is known for its varied flavor and texture. Although most of the employees were smiling from ear to ear, a few were apparently not as fond of the fruit, including some of the expatriate staff.
Many of the employees in attendance expressed their desire to eat the prized Musang King variety next year if the budget allows. This enjoyable annual event with a tropical twist once again abounded with togetherness, happiness and enthusiasm.
