Machinery business centering on supply to JFE Steel
Since the construction of JFE Steel’s steel plants, JFE Shoji Trade has been expanding the sales of materials and machinery mainly to JFE Steel and the Group for subsequent strengthening of facilities and equipment as well as stable operation. We are conducting sales and procurement activities of materials and machinery not just in Japan but also in foreign countries.
【 Machinery & Materials 】 We are handling a wide range of steel-making equipment to include raw materials and pig iron making and steel-making equipment used for the initial process, rolling, surface processing and shipping equipment, and machine parts and processed metal products.
In the area of materials, we handle all kinds of materials for operation such as mill rolls, electric wires and oils and fats.
By supplying these in Japan and abroad, we have been able to satisfy the needs of JFE Steel and its group companies, contributing to stable operation and cost reduction.
Specifically, by stationing our staff in Vijayanagar Steelworks of the Indian company JSW Steel, which is affiliated with JFE Steel Limited, we are exchanging various ranges of information with JSW Steel Limited at the front line.

【 Ships 】 In markets spanning Southeast Asia to Europe, we act as an intermediary in ship chartering and in the sale of both newly built and second-hand ships, with the focus on vessels for transporting automobiles and vessels for transporting raw materials. In addition to the sale of mainly Japanese vessels for scrap to the Chinese market, our operations also extend to the marine transportation business, in which we own a fleet of charter ships.
【 Electric Power Business 】In a joint venture with Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., in 1999, we took our first step to becoming an independent power producer (IPP) for the Electric Power Agency of Sri-Lanka. This is our first venture into the power generation business. The power plant has been able to meet about 5% of Sri Lanka’s electricity demand.
