In 2002, Japan's major steel maker, Kawasaki Steel Corporation, and NKK Corporation consolidated, establishing JFE Holdings, Inc., and in 2003 JFE Steel Corporation was founded. Along with the creation of the JFE Group, JFE Shoji Trade Corporation was born in October 2004 through the merger of Kawasho Corporation, a direct affiliate of the former Kawasaki Steel Corporation, and NKK Trading Inc., a direct affiliate of the former NKK Corporation.JFE Shoji Trade Corporation aims to become the core trading company within the JFE Group, striving to facilitate sharing of common strategies within the group while also increasing their role and function. In addition, JFE Shoji Trade Corporation also is striving to ensure that the beneficial effects of corporate consolidation are seen quickly, through maximum utilization of the management resources possessed by both Kawasho Corporation and NKK Trading Inc., along with the reorganization of overseas and domestic sales networks, distribution routes, steel processing centers and group companies.We deal in thick steel plate, the main product category of JFE Steel Corporation, which is typically used for shipbuilding and bridge construction, as well as thin steel sheet used in automobiles and household electrical appliances and to construct walls and roofs. In addition, we handle special steel used as material in parts for automobiles and industrial machinery, stainless steel for everyday use, H beam steel and steel rods for construction and civil engineering, and a wide range of steel pipes.

JFE Shoji Trade, whose core business is steel, is addressing the circumstances with flexibility, moving ahead through diversification into a wide range of new businesses and services. We are developing operations in each region with time-proven regard for what is practical from the customer's standpoint. Our system of operations covers eight sectors of the country, namely Hokkaido, Tohoku, Tokyo, Niigata, Shizuoka, Nagoya, Osaka and Kyushu, and comprises a total of over 200 companies intricately linked in the network.

| Upstream & Downstream Development Of Regional Business |
The major strengths of steel professional, JFE Shoji Trade Corporation, lie in our established steel processing centers with close regional ties, and a business organization that provides detailed customer services. Upstream. JFE Shoji Trade Corporation sells steel products for JFE Steel Corporation. Downstream, our processing centers deal in made-to-order steel products. We shall continue to function to the full as a trading company, maintaining and expanding processing centers as sales bases with physical distribution and warehousing capabilities that assure timely response to a variety of customer requirements.
In October 2003, four steel processing centers was unified in the Kanto area to establish the new company. Focusing on reinforcing business operations in a particular region to create the optimum business and processing system will help improve efficiency while raising competitiveness. Furthermore, we aim to unify JFE shoji Trade's corporate strategy to boost earnings, and improve sales of processed steel products in the Kanto area. In February 2004, with the joint investment of Metal One Corporation, we established "Mizushima Metal Products Corporation," and is strengthening blanking operations with a view to expanding demand from the automakers and automotive parts manufacturers

| Moving Towards Boosted Competitiveness |
To boost competitiveness in steel business, our core competence, Group companies are continuing to reorganize and integrate operations.
Kawasho's construction materials business as well as Group member companies were reorganized and integrated to establish construction materials sales companies in both the western and eastern regions of Japan. The reorganization and integration has reinforced sales and expanded community- based sales with close customer relations to meet the needs of everyone from big-order to small-order customers.
October 2004 saw the beginning of JFE Shoji Trade Corporation along with a restructuring of the Group's construction materials and steel pipe businesses. On the building materials side, Kawasho corporation and NKK Trading Inc. integrated their trade rights for construction materials in eastern and western Japan with JFE Shoji Steel Construction Materials Corporation and JFE Shoji Construction Materials Sales Corporation respectively. This integration is aimed at improving business efficiency and productivity, and realizing a sales company for building materials with the sales capacity for a nationwide network. The steel pipe business of Kawasho corporation and the subsidiary trading company of NKK Trading (KKT Inc.) were reorganized, and made a new start as JFE Shoji KKT Co., LTD., the largest steel pipe and pipe materials sales company in Japan.
