Our business in the fields of chemicals and fuels has been expanding in close connection with the needs of steel plants. It began with the handling of coke oven gas, tars, ammonium sulfate, benzene and other by-products of the coke manufacturing process, and has grown to be a new material field as a result of the development of technology and research and development capability of coal chemistry. At present, we import, export and engage in local trading of a wide range of products including coal chemicals such as industrial gases and creosote oil, inorganic chemicals such as magnesium chloride, fine ceramics, ultra-fine nickel powder and other functional chemicals as well as raw materials for plastics, gasoline, liquefied petroleum gases (LPG), lubricating oil and a whole range of petrochemical products.
【 Chemicals 】 With the handling of chemical products, gases, fertilizers and organic and inorganic chemicals manufactured by JFE Chemical Corporation as the core of the business, we are globally involved in the development of markets, applications and raw materials in the field of chemical products manufactured by JFE Mineral Co., Ltd. and Mizushima Ferroalloy Co., Ltd.
【 Fuels 】 To those container ships that stop at the world’s principal trade ports during shipment as well as the JEE Steel’s cargo vessels loaded with steel-making materials, we supply fuel and lubricating oils in which crude oils are used as raw materials.
We are performing sales activities that come together and integrally with JFE SHOJI OIL CO., LTD., one of our group companies, forging a stable procurement system together with oil refinery companies both inside and outside the country, and striving to achieve expansion of our share on the market for the sales of petrochemical products inside and outside Japan.
【 Industrial Materials 】 We are involved in the procurement and sales of industrial materials in Japan and abroad in collaboration with JFE Shoji Trade Matech Inc., an affiliate company of JFE Shoji Trade. These materials mainly include basic industrial materials such as non-ferrous metal products (aluminum, copper), raw materials for plastics, raw materials for tires (crude rubber etc.), raw materials for paper (wood chips) and paper products.
In the area of non-ferrous metal products, we utilize our overseas coil centers to satisfy customer needs and expand the volume handled. In the area of raw materials for plastics, we import, export, process and trade them based on the needs of our customers. In the area of tires, we supply a variety of raw materials to tire manufacturers. Our paper-related business ranges from import of raw-material wood chips and forestation to the trading of products such as coated paper used for magazines etc.
